The Man Behind The Canvas

People often ask how a self-taught lad from a coal-mining town in Yorkshire ends up painting large-scale cityscapes and creating detailed artwork. The answer is simple: it’s all about graft, imagination, and a lifelong love for creating.

Born and bred in Yorkshire, Stewart is the son of a coal miner and a school dinner lady. Growing up, art wasn't about fancy galleries or formal training; it was about picking up a pencil and seeing what you could bring to life from your own imagination.

Over the years, that passion evolved. What started out as quiet pencil sketches and expressive charcoal portraits naturally grew into larger canvas paintings and striking pieces meant to connect with people on an emotional level. You might even recognize his work or his creative process from his YouTube channel, Stew-Art915, where he shares his art and comedy content with followers.

Stewart’s creativity doesn't stop at the canvas, either. He also wrote and illustrated his own fantasy book, The Fog Witch, which is available over on Amazon for anyone who wants to dive into his imaginative storytelling.

This website is the next natural step in the journey, bringing everything together in one place and finally offering his original artwork for sale so that others can own a piece of his creative world. Have a look around the gallery, and feel free to get in touch if a piece catches your eye!
